External :
- Having sat for the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination
Salary Scale :
- According to the DMS Circular No. 01/2025
- PL-1Rs. 40,500-450x10-490x10-540x07-590x1562,530/-(In addition, government approved allowances will be paid.)
Method of Recruitment :
- Selection by a Trade Test & Structured Interview.
Age Limit :
- Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years in age as at closing date of applications.
- The maximum age limit will not be applicable to the internal candidates.

» Qualifications :
⁖ External :
- Having passed G.C.E. (A/L) examination (four subjects in old syllabus or three subjects in the new syllabus)
And
- Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in six subjects in not more than two sittings with credit passes for four subjects including Sinhala / Tamil and Mathematics.
⁖ Internal :
- The Employees of the CGTTI drawing salaries on PL 1 salary scale and PL 3 scale provided that they have passed G.C.E. (O/L) Examination in six subjects in not more than in two sittings and having credit passes for Mathematics and a Language subject are eligible to apply.
Salary Scale :
- According to the DMS Circular No. 01/2025
- MA 1-2-Rs. 46,220-540x10-630x7-1080x12-1280x1284,350/-(In addition, government approved allowances will be paid.)
Method of Recruitment :
- Selection by on the results of a written competitive examination and/or a Structured interview.
Age Limit :
- Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years in age as at closing date of applications. The maximum age limit will not be applicable to the internal candidates.
๐ General Conditions of All Positions :
- Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Should be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post well and to serve in any part of the Island.
- Should be of excellent moral character.
- The employees appointed to this category externally will be on probation for a period of three years. He/ She will be confirmed at the end of this period provided that his/her performance and conduct have been satisfactory during the above period. The employees selected internally who are already confirmed in the previous post will be subjected to an acting period of one year.
- Recruitment to the above posts will be on the starting salary step.
- Employee's contribution towards employees' provident fund will be 08% of the salary, while contribution of the Institution will be 12% and 03% towards the employees' Trust Fund.

Established in 1959, CGTTI started its journey at the central workshops of the Transport Board in Werahera. Rooted in an agreement between the governments of Germany and Sri Lanka, we began as a response to the growing need for skilled technicians in maintaining the bus fleet of the Transport Board.
